Hello Johanna, I just finished watching the 15 min. presentation on the intellectual property of fashion. I teach fashion design at The Art Institute of California, San Diego, and San Diego Mesa College, and I also work in the industry. I was riveted listening to your presentation as I lay in my bed…laptop on my lap, and iPhone on my chest. I had just been on-line sourcing…looking for inspiration for my next project
, while in between I checked my email and received your linked from the librarian at the Art Institute. The reason I am writing, as a teacher, one of the first questions new students have, going into the study is “Can I protect my design?” And I usually go into a long diatribe to explain “no.” I’ve never heard it explained so eloquently, funny and thoroughly enjoyable. I’m saying all this to ask if you could speak at a seminar I am co-hosting here in San Diego. I know that you must be very busy, and I hope that you would consider. I am a member of Fashion Group International. The Professional Development Day will be an amazing day of networking and growth for all segments of the fashion industry. Strategic breakout sessions are planned covering various topics, including business set-up (LLC vs. Corp)l Marketing and Social Networking, and more, plenty of networking opportunities, and a surprise guest.
Please let me know…this is a shot in the dark…but I HAD to ask. We would be so grateful and appreciative to have you here.
Thank you for your time,
Kathie Taylor
